Carla Bennett is a School Improvement Officer at First Federation Trust who has extensive knowledge and experience of working within primary schools and with primary and secondary science leaders. She is also the founder and director of Plymouth Science CIC, supporting over 1000 schools with CPD and curriculum planning where she won the Excellence in Primary Education Award, 2024 from the Royal Society of Chemistry. Carla provides training and network meetings for SWIFT, STEM learning and Marjons University.
Carla is also a Primary Teaching Trust Fellow, awarded 2017, and has continued her CPD journey and networking through this lifetime membership. Alongside this, Carla is also part of many different science networks: she is a STEM facilitator, PSQM Professional Partner, Explorify Champion and has been providing workshops for the ASE and STEM learning conference.
Previous to this, Carla was an Education Improvement Officer for Plymouth City Council, Headteacher and led the Primary Science offer for Plymouth Teaching Schools. She has over 15 years’ experience in leading primary science and has expertise of leading teachers and leaders in improving practice, giving up to date research including first hand experience of Ofsted inspections.
